Viktor Rydberg (1828-1895) was one of Sweden's most important authors in the 19th century, between Almqvist and Strindberg. Singoalla constitutes the latter half of volume III of fourteen in Skrifter av Viktor Rydberg ("collected works"), which appeared in the decades following the author's death, edited by Karl Warburg (1852-1918). This collection was sold in numerous editions, and other, smaller collections with similar names were also sold. Find an overview in our presentation of this Nordic Author.
The first half of volume III is another novel, De vandrande djäknarne, which Project Runeberg has chosen to present as a separate electronic edition. That edition includes the volume's title page. The two works in volume III carry separate edition designations. A copy printed in 1915 was used for digitization, containing the 11th edition of Singoalla, counting from the first appearance of this novel in 1858.
The text is presented in proofread text format, but the 189 pages
are also available in facsimile in 120 dpi grayscale.
