Preface to the electronic edition
As a professor in Christiania (now Oslo) trying to map the Earth's
magnetic field, Christopher Hansteen travelled through Siberia in
1828—1830. This book about the journey first
appeared in German in 1854, in this French translation by Marie
Colban in 1857, in Norwegian in 1859 and
in Swedish in 1861. The book was digitized
in March 2008 by the Norwegian National Library, from where the
scanned images and OCR text in February 2020 were copied to Project
Runeberg for proofreading.
This volume was scanned by the Norwegian National Library,
from where the scanned images were copied to Project Runeberg.
