Sven Hedin visited the German and Austrian-Hungarian armies along the eastern front in March—August 1915, and recounted his impressions in Kriget mot Ryssland (1915, 964 pages). This German translation (abbreviated to 511 pages) was published in 1916. No translator is named, it could be the author himself.
The book was digitized in June 2009 at the University of California
libraries by the Internet Archive, from where the scanned images in
January 2024 were copied to Project Runeberg. Their OCR text is of
very poor quality (even thought it appears to have been produced in
November 2021) and we produced our own using Tesseract 5.3 (Fraktur).
As usual, we only use short "s" (no long ſ).
This volume was scanned elsewhere and made available by the Internet Archive,
from where the scanned images were copied to Project Runeberg.
We very much appreciate that they have made this possible
and want to encourage other digital library projects to
follow their example. Read more about Project Runeberg's
image sources.
