THE STORY
OF SAN MICHELE
By AXEL MUNTHE
“And there was war in heaven: Michael
and his angels fought against the dragon;
and the dragon fought and his angels, and
prevailed not; neither was their place
found any more in heaven. And the great
dragon was cast out, that old serpent,
called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth
the whole world: he was cast out into the
earth, and his angels were cast out with
him.”
The Book of the Revelation.

Preface to the electronic edition
This book from 1929 was originally written in English and later
translated by the author into Swedish (Boken om San Michele,
1929). Wikipedia has an article about the book in several languages
(English,
Swedish).
A copy of the English first edition was digitized in 2020 by the
Gothenburg University library, from where the scanned images and OCR
text in July 2020 were copied to Project Runeberg for proofreading.
Unfortunately, pages xvi and 1 are missing from the Gothenburg
digitization and have instead been copied from
one made by the Internet Archive.
This volume was scanned by the Gothenburg University Library,
from where the scanned images were copied to Project Runeberg.
We very much appreciate that they have made this possible
and want to encourage other digital library projects to
follow their example. Read more about Project Runeberg's
image sources.
