Preface to the Electronic Edition
Viktor Rydberg
(1828-1895) was one of Sweden's most important authors in the 19th
century, between Almqvist and Strindberg. This is an electronic
edition of volume XI of 14 in Skrifter av Viktor Rydberg
("collected works"), which appeared in the decades following the
author's death, edited by Karl Warburg (1852-1918). This collection was sold in numerous
editions, and other, smaller collections with similar names were also

This volume contains some works relating to the historic use of
magic: Medeltidens magi ("the magic of the middle ages", 1st
book edition in 1865), Jehovahtjänsten hos hebreerna ("the
Jehova service among the Hebrews"), and Urpatriarkernas släkttafla
i Genesis ("the original patriarchs' genealogic tables in
Genesis"). Those are an amateur's spontaneous translations of the
titles.
The initiative to this electronic edition was taken in September
1993 by Lars Aronsson. The text was converted from Gopher to HTML
format on 22 February 1998. It only covered a fragment of the first
work, however, until 2 Dec 1998 when all 279 text pages were presented
as facsimile images in 120 dpi grayscale, combined with raw OCR text.
