Wilhelm Leche was a
Swedish zoologist at the end of the 19th century, devoting much of his
energy to the novel concept of evolution. The title of the work
presented here translates to Man. Origin and Evolution. Dated
January 1st, 1909, the preface starts out by noting that exactly 50
years had past since Darwin presented his theory On the Origin of
Species (London, 1859).
This work, which is now in the public domain, was published in at
least three editions during 1909 (1st, 2nd) and 1915 (3rd ed.). The
copy used here is from the 1st edition. The volume was disbound and
the 7 x 10.6 inch pages, 298 of them, were fed through a scanner.
Pagination goes to 269, but non-paginated illustrations are
interleaved with the text, and the title and preface has roman
pagination. All pages are presented here, in 120 dpi grayscale GIF
format, including the blank reverse sides of illustration leaves.
