Preface to the Electronic Edition

Frans Michael Franzén (1772-1847) was an active scholar, poet, author, hymn writer, and bishop in the former half of the 19th century. This is a collection of his biographies or "Memories of excellent Swedish statesmen, heros, scholars, artists, and poets", as the title goes. In three parts, it was published in 1848, 1859, and 1860.

Project Runeberg's electronic facsimile edition was prepared in the spring of 1999. The 1488 pages have been scanned in 600 dpi bitonal and are presented here in 120 dpi grayscale. OCR text is still missing.
