Born in Riga on 29 February 1896, educated as a language teacher, worked 1919-1922 for the Latvian ministry of foreign affairs, then a Latvian Red Cross correspondent, in 1945-1948 worked as an interpreter in Dresden, but was imprisoned by Soviet authorities, sentenced to 10 years for treason, released in January 1955 and returned to Latvia, where she died in March 1988.
She (Cand. phil. E. Lauva) published a Latvian-German dictionary (1939; 2nd ed. 1942; 3rd ed. 1943).
