Svend Hersleb Grundtvig, Danish literature historian and ethnographer, born 9 Sep 1824, died 14 Jul 1883. Son of N.F.S. Grundtvig.

After his death, Svend Grundtvig's rich archives of Danish folk songs (Folkemindesamlinger) were deposited at the Royal Library in Copenhagen.

Danmarks gamle folkevisor, 1853-

A fairly large collection of Danish (and Swedish, Norwegian, and Faroese) folk songs, including variants and comments.

The collection was unfinished at the author's death. Vol. V was completed in 1890 by his disciple Axel Olrik, who used S.G.'s archives as the basis for the continued publishing of Danmarks ridderviser, vol. VI--VIII, 1895.
