Acerbi published this account of his journey in 1802. It was later
translated to German, French, and Italian. The book has been digitized
several times, but often from copies that lack the illustration
plates. Among those found on the Internet Archive, we have found the
best to be volume I digitized at Smithsonian Libraries in February
2019 and volume II digitized at the University of Pittsburgh in May
2009. The scanned images were copied from the Internet Archive to
Project Runeberg in April 2023. Their OCR text lacks the long s, and
so we tried to produce our own OCR text using Tesseract 5.1 (eng), but
it too lacks the long s (most often misread as an f).
